About Us

Exactics is a Chicago-based startup that develops rapid diagnostic tools for underrepresented infectious diseases to expedite at-home and clinical diagnoses, subsequently improving treatment plans and long-term health outcomes. Exactics has developed QuickLyme, a patented 15-minute at-home test for Lyme disease and has developed and patented an adaptable test platform, Proteusâș, using competitive lateral flow immunoassay technology.

Our Story

After watching his best friend suffer from the detrimental effects of Lyme Disease, Julian Kage, Founder and CEO of Exactics, set out to figure out why his friend had not received help until suffering irreversible damage and persistent chronic symptoms. At only 12 years old, Julian self studied to become an expert on Lyme Disease, infectious disease diagnostics, and specifically lateral flow assays.

In 2017, Julian developed the QuickLyme technology to help others like his friend. Julian presented his technology at the National Invention Convention and Entrepreneurship Exposition, where he won funding from the Henry Ford Foundation to patent his work. In 2021, Julian founded Exactics before continuing his medical education at the University of Chicago. Then in 2023, he established a co-founding team of like-minded peers from the University of Chicago and Tulane University to help execute the shared vision to improve health outcomes globally.
